ThiS SEPTEMBER, We WILL RISE UP TOGETHER WITH COLLECTIVE POWER TO DEMAND CLIMATE ACTION
A WEEK OF ACTIONS
First, the students strike with a youth die-in on the steps of The Canadian Museum of Human Rights to kick off our week of actions.
WHERE: Gather at the Group Entrance to the museum. Marshalls will guide you to the steps where we will "die".
WHY: To symbolize the fatal nature of the climate crisis, and mourn all those who have already died due to climate change - either from illness, disaster, or defending their rights and the rights of the planet.
Then, each day we will be appearing throughout the city with a pop-up action, focusing on our Seven Demands.
You can watch these pop-up actions on our Instagram!
We encourage schools to plan their own Seven Days of Action which can be based on our Seven Demands or tackle climate change as a social justice issue in your own way.
We also encourage schools to culminate their week of actions by planning a field trip to the SEPT 27 Strike.
Finally, all this action builds toward the Global General Strike for Climate Action called by Greta Thunberg. This is the big day.
WHERE: The steps of the Manitoba Legislature
WHAT: A peaceful demonstration including: a rally, march, massive art installations, workshops, and collective actions. There will be a presence at The Ledge the whole afternoon for those who cannot/don't want to march.
WHY: Because it feels ludicrous to go to work or school while our planet burns.
Massive collective action is needed to shift the paradigm and save our home.
We are asking our adult allies to power up and follow our lead. Help us get unprecedented numbers out in the streets to demand binding, emergency measures to keep global temperature rise below 1.5°.
Adult Allies meet every Tuesday for planning sessions - please join!
We need teachers, nurses, bus drivers, city workers, custodians, caregivers -
we need everyone!
